Adoption Requirements
Step 1
Fill out an application
You can fill out an application online or come in and fill out an application at the shelter in person.
- Once you see a dog you might be interested in adopting, go to our Adoptable Dogs page and find your dog's profile.
- Click on Adopt.
- This online process will allow you to complete an application to adopt a dog from the HTC Animal Shelter.
Completing an application does not reserve or complete the adoption of a dog from our shelter. We complete the adoption process after you've met with the dog and they are a good fit.
Step 2
Setup a time to meet
It's time to come in and meet your pup!

Have other dogs in the home?
We absolutely encourage you to bring your current dog to meet your potential new family member. We have a play area outside for a meet-and-greet.
Step 3
Bring your new furry friend home!
After you've completed your application and you're ready to adopt, come by the shelter to pay the adoption fee and take your new family member home!
Adoption Fee
Our adoptable pets are 100% ready to go home with you!
Here's what is included in our adoption fee:
Dog adoption fee: $150
Why is there an adoption fee?
Ever wondered why shelters and rescues have adoption costs?
It's because we take the time, energy, and money to care for your new family member so they are 100% ready to go home with you.
They receive quality veterinary care from our community partner veterinarians (~$80-120)
They are spayed/neutered (~$100-400)
They are heart worm tested (~$50)
Our shelter even occasionally will DNA test! (while supplies last)
Getting a pet for free online or somewhere else is not actually "free."
Often times they are sick, not spayed/neutered, or unvaccinated, so you end up spending more money at the vet than you would if you adopted from a shelter or rescue.
